About this
An outdoor concrete park built for street skating — a bowl, quarterpipes, banks, rails and a stairset, joined up by long lanes. Skateboards, scooters, blades and BMX are all ridden here.
It costs R20 a skater and R5 for anyone who just wants to watch, which makes it one of the cheapest afternoons in town. There are proper bathrooms, and a long shaded stoep of picnic tables looking straight out over the park — so a parent can sit in the shade and still see everything.
One thing worth knowing before you drive out: the hall on the site is hired for private functions, and when it is booked the whole venue goes with it and nobody skates that day. It is open from 10:00 to 18:00 otherwise. A quick call on 060 341 2993 will tell you which kind of day it is.
