The beach the town is built around, and the reason so many families come back. The water shelves very gradually, so it stays shallow and warm a long way out, and the lagoon is protected enough that it rarely gets rough. Restaurants and coffee shops are a minute behind you. The wind usually gets up in the afternoon, so mornings are the calm ones — which is also when the swim squad goes in, from in front of Pearly's.
Dogs are welcome on the beach. Pick up after them, and a lead is appreciated on a busy stretch — worth knowing, because the parkrun course and the craft market on its market Saturdays both ask you to leave the dog at home.
