About this home

A modern, light-filled cottage with direct access onto the beach, and a living room and kitchen that look out over the lagoon without anything in the way. The sunsets from here are the reason people rebook.

Three bedrooms sleep six, each with its own shower and toilet. The kitchen is properly kitted — dishwasher, a big oven, Nespresso — and the living space is open and uncluttered. There is a kite store with a wash-down for salty gear, and an olive tree out the back for shade. The shops, coffee places and surf shops on Main and Bree Street are an easy walk.

Markus is straight about two things, and so are we. The bedrooms do not face the beach — the view belongs to the living areas. And although the solar runs the house and its hot water almost independently of the grid, a run of load shedding under cloudy skies can still leave it short.

The kite store is shared with guests at the Beach Tower House, Markus's other place a few steps along.
