A Langebaan guide
Langebaan with children
The reason Langebaan works with small children is the lagoon. It is shallow a long way out, warmer than the open sea on the other side of the peninsula, and there is no surf in it at all — so a four-year-old can walk out to where a nervous parent can still see their knees.
That is most of the holiday. What follows is the rest of it, and what to do on the afternoons the wind decides otherwise.

Start with the water
Main Beach
The town beach — the water shelves so gradually that children can wade a long way out.
Free · Open always
If they are old enough to sit still for two hours, the boat trips across the lagoon take children at a reduced fare, and the West Coast Fossil Park is R100 for under-15s and the best hour’s drive-and-look in the area.
Made for them
Everything in the guide that is built around children rather than merely tolerant of them.
Club Mykonos Activities
Ziplines, a sky park, lagoon cruises and bike and SUP hire — plus a children's clubhouse and a fun fair.
Varies by activity
Denlyn Park & Craft Market

When the wind is up
It will be, most afternoons from spring onwards, and a lagoon that was perfect at ten can be unbearable by three — blown sand at ankle height is the thing that ends a beach day with small children.
Sunnypark is the standing answer. Every pool is heated, indoor and out, so it works on a day the beach does not — and it has been doing exactly that since 1988.
Room for everyone
Places on the guide that say they suit families. Sleeping arrangements vary a great deal — check which beds are where before you book, because “sleeps eight” can mean two rooms and a sleeper couch.

One thing worth knowing
Mornings are the calm ones. If there is a single piece of advice for a family week here it is to do the water first and leave the indoor things for the afternoon, rather than the other way round — the day runs with the wind instead of against it, and nobody has to be dragged off a beach.
